Sport and Spine Rehab believes in creating a work
hardening atmosphere that is individualized, structured, and job
specific. Not only will the client continue to build strength and
endurance through progressive exercise but simulated work activities
will be incorporated to maximize the worker’s safe return to work.
Core components of our Work Hardening Program include physical
conditioning, simulation of work related activities, and continued
education that can help prevent re-injury.
The Work Hardening Program is designed to replace or be an extension
of the client’s workday. In other terms, the worker is expected to
treat the program as if they are at work. Upon arrival to the
clinic, the worker will be given daily assignments and requested to
“go to work”. Clients will typically participate in the program for
3-4 hours per day for 5 days per week. As patient progresses, he or
she may be asked to stay for the full 8 hours per day.
If the worker remains
unable to safely return to their job task after work hardening then
Sport and Spine Rehab recommends they undergo a functional capacity test that will
formally test their maximal abilities and tolerances to the
situations that comprise their job tasks.
